Setting Up SSL using zerossl.com

Posted on February 23, 2020 - February 23, 2020 by admin

I recently spent some time setting up this website to be secure (SSL), I was gonna write some documentation for myself so I don’t forget how to do it again, but instead I thought I would write a post about it, incase someone bumps into this post and it helps them.

I’m using Godaddy to host this website, Godaddy provide SSL, but they are rather expensive. £59.99/yr being the cheapest when its not on discount. So instead I used http://zerossl.com Which is easy and free if you follow the documentation and video tutorials they provide.

The only downside to using it is having to renew it every 3 months, but since its a 20 – 15 min process I don’t mind since it’s free.

After I finished the the process I kept getting an error on my website saying it wasn’t secure. The exact error was:

A quick google search lead to this article :

and this wordpress log in:

After about 3 hours of reading and 20 mins of actually doing stuff it was finally fully secure. (well as secure as it can be under this set up)
